COVID-19 era: our mission

Written in the Foundation’s first months, when the 501(c)(3) approval arrived in the middle of a pandemic that closed every border we had planned to cross.

The Aqua Africa Foundation is a registered non-profit foundation, 501(c)(3), focusing on water issues around the world with an approach that can be summarised in one word: efficiency. Our mission is to provide access to clean and safe water where it is needed, with an emphasis on families with children in underdeveloped countries as well as low-income families here in the United States.

Receiving our exempt certificate in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic was a challenge we met by staying mobile. Africa was our first target outside the United States — specifically Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso.

Although we are doing our best to succeed in Africa despite the difficulties COVID-19 presents for transport and overseas travel, we have had to reorganise and shift our focus to projects in the United States until the travel restrictions lift.

Every system the Foundation funds was paid for by someone who decided a child should not have to wonder about the water.
