The projections of deaths in Africa from the Covid-19 pandemic are a far cry from the relatively mild impact thus far.
Scientists are left wondering why the impact remains low. However, the battle is not over. Preventing infection remains out of reach from 400 million people on the continent who lack access to improved water supply.
Diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, hepatitis A, skin diseases and other diseases are prevalent in many areas where access to washing hands regularly is limited.
Private sector participation provides a promising solution to sustainable management and financing of improved water services. They, along with the Sanitation and Water (SWA) aim to achieve universal access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation.
